PRE-TRIAL INTERVENTION PROGRAM
Pre-Trial Diversion, PIT as it is referred to, is authorized by
state statues. The only offenders eligible are those who have
committed a felony, and it must be a non-violent offense.
The program is a minimum of one year
and a maximum of three years. While in the program,
offenders are required to report, pay a supervision fee, be drug
tested (at their expense), and pay restitution, if applicable.
When the offender completes the
program, the charges are dismissed and the case can be expunged.
If the offender fails to complete the program, then they are
breached, and their case goes back on the docket to be prosecuted.
